The Premium Great Taste Trail Experience
If you have a long weekend, or only a few days to enjoy Nelson’s cycle trails, this is for you. This gives you two days on the main Great Taste Trail, and one day exploring the picturesque Moutere countryside. This allows you to see places most people don’t know exist. Tranquil countryside, hop gardens, vineyards, lush orchards and majestic rivers all set amidst the backdrop of the stunning Kahurangi National Park.
Our routes give you a window into the unique artisan culture of the Mapua and Nelson area. Galleries and artist studios dot the trail, and our route notes help you to find hidden gems, delicious food, as well as the best wine and beers the area has to offer. There’s always a flat white coffee nearby too.
Day 1, Nelson to Mapua 35kms
Day 2, Kaiteriteri to Mapua 43km
Day 3, Mahana and Moutere 25 – 37km +Complimentary airport transfer at the end of the day.
This is a great way to see the region as a weekend break or part of a longer holiday. We are also happy to help you extend your stay and include a day or more in Abel Tasman National Park.
The Wheelie Difference
We try to be as flexible as possible and work around your arrival and departure times. We also don’t mind if you have an extra piece of luggage ( or two). We don’t charge for any extra bits and pieces you may need to make your tour more comfortable, e.g. gel saddle covers! We aim to use accommodation that is within a short walk to the restaurants, so once you have arrived, you can park up your bike. Wheelie discounts available at local businesses. We live and cycle in the area and can offer personal recommendations about cycle routes and stops along the way. When people know you are a Wheelie customer, you get treated like a local.

Premium Tour Three Days & Two Nights
- Two night’s accommodation in 4 and 4+ star boutique accommodation
- Three days hire of trail bike, helmet, lock, spare inner tube replacement kit
- Bike transfers as required.
- Luggage transfers with baggage allowance of up to 2 bags per person
- Specific route maps and bespoke route notes to help you discover hidden gems and other places of interest
- Ferry ticket to Rabbit Island
- A dedicated tour manager and support service throughout the duration of your tour
- Airport pick up and drop off if you want your tour to start or finish at the airport
- Price: From $985 per person. Solo traveller and POA.
- Prices are per person based on two people sharing, with 3 days self-guided rides
